Open from the inside out with Yin Yoga, a slow, deep practice in which we disengage the muscles and sink into the connective tissue. The simple poses of Yin Yoga are mostly done on the floor, and involve holding for time (typically 3–7 minutes). This practice is profoundly meditative; as restricted connective tissue releases, unwinds and comes into balance, so too does the mind.
Yin Yoga is a wonderful complement to more active styles of yoga, appropriate for those at any level of practice, and even for those who have never done yoga.
Jennifer Fox, PhD, LMT, RYT-200 is a Kripalu certified Yin Yoga Teacher and KRI certified Level 1 Kundalini Yoga Teacher. She enjoys a full-time private practice doing integrative bodywork, and is passionate about helping others help themselves.
